Magpie Tales: Whirling

Flying Down, 2006, by David Salle

On a busy city street,
A mandarin duck whirled in the air by my side,
Moved by hot dry air
Flashing red and green, blue and white.
As I stared in wonder and amazement
At this sight, on a busy city street
with planes flying low and a red brick
Wall in front of me,
I saw the red samurai in a dance with a monk
in his red robes, defying gravity and my
Own sharp senses.
